Thoughts from a recent traveler

a handful of thoughts gathered from recent travels:

1.  it is not comforting when you hear rattling while on a plane and you look over and see a large piece of duct tape (aprox 8 inches long) under the window next to your seat.

2. people should not be allowed to take off their shoes on the plane.  i was ready to pass out today from the smell of someone's sweaty feet and was very close to using the airplane speaker system to announce "will the owner of smelly feet please retract the offending objects and will the airline kindly drop down my little yellow oxygen mask so I can breathe normally?"

3. it sucks when the plane hits turbulence when you're in the postage-stamp-sized bathroom peeing.  your knees are ready to hit the door, which you then fear will fly wide open.  how mortifying.

4. getting to stay at uber-posh hotels is such a privledge.  I love it when the bathroom is larger than the whole first floor of my house.  on my own dime though, it's motel-6 all the way.

5. there is nothing quite as breathtaking as the view of the bay bridge and golden gate bridge as the plane takes off of SFO.  it's bee-you-tee-ful.

i have major major FIMS.  (Foot in Mouth Syndrome).  Does anybody know a cure?  i need to really start thinking before i speak (or at least rehearsing).

Seeing that I sign on to xanga once or twice a year, this entry is dedicated to my dear fellow fob wanna be, randall fan... who complains that i never write xanga entries.  it is also dedicated to him because he is willing to call in/write referrals for me.

Thanksgiving was awesome (even though I had the stomach flu for 2 days).  There is just so much to be thankful for this year including (but not limited to): moving to SF, my awesome roommates, finding new friends, rekindling old friendships, pumpkin ice cream, uhm... yeah, that's just the short list.  long list to come soon.

i know it sounds really selfish, but i hate that before Elva Hsiao the pop singer in Taiwan made it big, I felt like the only Elva out there... and now, there are about a gazillion Elvas because people are just naming themselves Elva left and right in asia.  Although I suppose if I grew up a jennifer smith...i wouldn't feel any different.  UHRGS.  At least I have the satisfaction of it saying elva huang on my passport and all my IDs.  Thank you very much.  The end.

Happy New Year... although we're already technically 9 days into the new year, seeing that there are 365 days a year, 9 is still new.
